beyond the limit
Bruce is still amazed about how resilient and just plain strong Asgardians are, though he thinks that Thor is probably an anomaly even among them. Even without his armour, the bullets didn't make it very far and the wounds were shallow. Still, the job of removing them is left to Bruce and it takes a phenomenal effort to keep his hands from shaking and the Hulk at bay.
For his part, Thor is a remarkably good sport about the entire thing. He doesn't wince or try to move away from Bruce as he removes the bullets, cleans the wounds, and bandages them. Although, Thor does make a little pained expression when the bullets are removed.
"I'm relieved," Thor says, as Bruce bandages the last of the wounds. Thor's torso is almost completely covered in bandages, but he smiles. "You are unhurt."
Bruce raised his brows and looked straight at Thor, "Even if they had hit me, it wouldn't have done much good. They'd just be splats on the pavement."
Thor brushed his knuckles against Bruce's cheek and jaw, still smiling, "I'm aware of that; I simply do not like to see you hurt."
"I can look after myself. And so can the other guy. I don't like seeing you hurt either – especially not because of me."
"This is not a matter, I believe, we will ever agree upon," Thor says. "But know that I will not allow you to come to be harmed within my presence – not when it's within my power to protect you."
Bruce feels his cheeks warm and redden. It's still so hard to come to terms with the fact that he has both attracted Thor to himself and that there are those who would want to protect him. He's just used to being alone; by himself with no one else to turn to.
It's a strange feeling, but one that he, tentatively, thinks that he could get used to.
He returns Thor's smile, a little wary, and says, "Thank you."
FIN.
